| Bloody and/or watery diarrhea Hello Everyone, well after the Kennel Cough our Gigi got now the next problem.....the last 2 days he was been pooing all over the place mostly in a dark brown sometimes dark chocolate coloured colour. In some of them are traces of blood visible as well. He didn't made a normal Poo for some time now and I wonder what could be wrong with him? Does anyone got a Idea? I did switch food once but it was a while ago and he seemed fine there now I'm starting to worry what else it could be since it can't be the food. He is drinking regulary and looks alround healthy, playing jumping etc. but pooing like a Wolrdchampion. |

| I think you need to take Gigi and a poopy sample to the vet ASAP. Bloody diarrhea is not a good sign for our little ones. Please keep us posted. I hope Gigi is well soon. |

| I totally agree with Marie! Gigi needs to be seen by the vet ASAP. We recently had that experience with Toto and even though she was drinking her usual amount of water, she was dehydrated and had a gastrointestinal inflamation. We were travelling and had to find an emergency vet ... I don't even want to think what could have happened had we waited! Poor little Gigi ... please let us know how she is doing.

| yes, these little dogs are like babies Just as any Dr will tell you it doesn't take much of an imbalance in fluid status for a baby to become gravely endangered, so it is with these lil' poochies...it may be something as simple as adjusting Gigi's diet...but it could also be something requiring more serious intervention that only a Vet could determine...just my 2 cents worth, but seems you've already heard the best advice...have your sweetie checked out...and let us know how she's doing. |

| Lexy had that last week and scared me silly! It was round worms causing it! Go to the vet ASAP! Good luck! |

| Must see the vet! It is entirely possible that your little Gigi is suffering from Coccidia which is an intestinal parasite. This is nothing serious as long as it is caught and treated. Generally bloody and soft stool is an indication of this parasite. Either way, see your vet as soon as possible and bring a stool sample so they can do a fecal flotation to test for parasites. I hope your baby gets well soon. |

| I would take her to the vet too. We keep a poo poo check on our dogs regularly. My husband has been seen at 5 AM in our back yard with a flashlight checking poo poo before

| Thanks for the advice guys, but I thought I might try a special diet food on him and voila now the stool is less watery more firm and green coloured, I think that it solved this problem, I'll wait and see how he does until the weekend and if he doesn't improve, then I will go and check the vet. It can't be possible that he got any worms since he de-wormed him 3-4weeks ago. I'll keep you posted. |

| It can be possible that he has worms! Sometimes you have to worm them 2x two weeks apart to get them all. I'm becoming somewhat of a "worm expert" as I call the vet regularly to ease my nerves over Lexy's episode! LOL Hope your baby gets better real soon! |

| Update: I was reading somewhere that sometimes when you dog has diarreah you can try to feed them cottage cheese, rice, cheese maccaroni etc, and holy maccaroni it worked!! I gave Gigi yesterday Cheese maccaroni to eat and he loved the lot. After it he didn't make a poo until this morning which looked rather normal. So I am really happy as I convinced that he can't have worms. Seems that it was the food after all. Can anyone tell just from seeing the poo if a dog got worms? What would be a tipical indication? white dots in the poo? |

| I have heard that worms look like pieces of rice. Check the stools for something like that. I'm glad to hear he seems to be better!!!

he is all back to normal now!!! It seemed just the change in diet which caused all that. Sadly I need to feed him like with Pasta mix etc. but hope to get him back soon to dog food only.....well more healthier food anyway. | |
