| Dry Food?? Hello everyone! I have a question and I'm hoping you guys can help! My little girl is 10 weeks old and she was being fed Nutro soft food and I wanted to change her over to Science Diet dry food which is what I always gave my boy. She hates the dry food though! She will eat all of the soft food and leave all the dry food! Can anyone tell me how I can get to eat it? Someone told me to just give her dry food and eventually she eat it but she is tiny, she is 1 pound at 10 weeks so I know she can't afford to skip meals. Any advice is greatly appreciated! |

| If she is only 10 weeks old, you can leave her on the wet food for a little while longer, although it is a good idea that you are trying to wean her off of it. You could try mixing the wet food with the dry food and putting it in the microwave to warm it up. Then each week, increase the amount of dry food you put in there and decrease the amouth of wet food. Eventually you will only have to feed her the dry food. You could also try soaking the dry food in water to make it softer then give it to her. Each week, decrease the amount of time you let it soak in the water until she is eating it straight out of the bag. GOOD LUCK! Make sure you give her NutriCal if she won't eat! |

| My Cali does the same thing..she will ALWAYS eat soft food, but she picks at the dry. Try teaching her tricks and using her kibble as the treat..that sometimes works for me. I also have a puppy kong for her that I put the dry food in and she sometimes will eat it out of there..

| I don't know how to help. Sissy always ate just dry food until this past week when she has stopped eating her Royal Canin. I can get her to eat small amounts of canned Natural Balance Chicken & Rice. Though she will eat our other dog's dry food (Iams), but it is adult food and the ingredients are not good for Sissy. I'm going to try another puppy premium dry and see how that goes.

| I tried today to give it to her as treats and she took one and played with it for a bit and thats it! I also tried the water thing but she won't even touch the food! What do you guys think of taking the other food away altogether and only giving her the hard food? I'm just so scared that she won't touch it at all and not eat anything the whole day! |

| I am not an expert and I would talk to YOUR vet, but my vet told me when I first got cooper and he was only eating dry because that is what his breeder fed him.. she asked me how he was eating and I said sometimes and sometimes not...and she said it was very important for these little guys to eat and to give him wet to make sure that he did. So that is what I did, he gets wet once a day (we go back and forth between Merricks and Chicken Soup) and the dry is out all the time. He only eats the dry though when we are out ...like in the car or out visiting or something he will eat it. Won't eat it out of the bowl. Won't always eat the wet either, but he always eats chicken, which I cook and keep frozen for the just in case times. I just want him to eat and eat good things, so I do what I gotta do ...but you should discuss this with your vet too.

| Since softening up the food in water doesnt help, mix the dry food with the wet food and warm it all up together. Then, each week, decrease the amount of wet food you mix with the dry food until she is just eating the dry food. |
