Gizmo has never had worms at all. And him and gidget have been having diahrea ALL afternoon. Well when I was holding Gizmo a few minutes ago I had a NASTY little white worm fall off his booty on to me!

I thought I was going to throw up. So I guess my question is, will his monthly intercepter get rid of them, or should I go get them something from the vet?

I found this and it says that Novartis (the maker of Interceptor) will reimburse reasonable costs incurred). You might want to check into this. Also roundworms can be transferred to humans.

INTERCEPTOR will prevent heartworm and control hookworm, roundworm and whipworm in your dog(s). In the unlikely event that your dog shows clinical signs of disease caused by any of these worms and tests positive, when INTERCEPTOR has been administered according to the label and leaflet instructions, Novartis Animal Health will reimburse all reasonable costs incurred in treating those diseases.

Not only is INTERCEPTOR effective, it is extremely economical. One tablet protects against heartworm and the major intestinal worms for about $5 a month*. That’s a small price to pay for your peace of mind.

* For a 10kg dog, based on a six month pack.

Sounds like this is tape worms and you need a different med for that. Talk to your vet and get a fecal done to see what kinds of worms your dog might have.

well we went to the vet this morning and they had tape worms! So we got medicine and they are going to be fine! Thanks for the help!

we are already on interceptor, but it doesn't prevent them from getting the tape worms. But it does wonderful for the other types of worms. I love it!

I was told by vet last mo. to come and get a pill for worms every 5-6mo. for preventive messures !

Where can I get INTERCEPTOR . . I want to get some protection my Tiger now that we walk daily.

Where do tape worms come from? How do they get them?

Tapeworms come from your dog eating fleas, or any dead animal such as moles, gophers, mice, rats, squirrels, etc. They can also get it by coming into contact with other dog poo that is infected with the worms. I hope this helps. There may be other ways to this is just what I know.

My husband's Rat Terrier has to be wormed a few times a year for tapeworm.. he is into "other animal" snacks.. (mice, squirrels.. etc).

I get lots of "gifts" on the front porch.... never know what to expect from him and my lab mix... they go hunting... I guess.
