| Anyone feed Evangers? Many of you know that our Chewie is a bit of a fuss-budget when it comes to eating his dry kibble. He's been eating Royal Canin for Yorkshier Terriers for a few months now - but has had some dry skin and his coat isn't nearly as shiny as it should be... We free feed him, with food in his crate all day (which he doesn't eat) and the bowl is full all evening. He usually chomps down a few mouthfuls when we're having dinner. Anyhow, he was groomed at a great little place last weekend and we discussed his coat condition with the owner. She loaded us up with samples and we're working through them this week. One of the samples she sent us home with was a can of Evanger's Pheasant WET food. At first I was leary of introducing anything WET into Chewie's life. He would LOVE his life if he could exist solely on Cesar (we were desperate in the beginning and let him try it). However, I thought that I would try mixing the Pheasant in with some dry food. Presto! The entire dish was empty within moments! Now, Chewie's love of Cesar has been proven not to be as strong as his love of Evangers Pheasant! If we mixed kibble in with Cesar Chewie would seperate out the kibble and leave it in a pile next to the food dish - the picky little pup that he is! The cans of Evangers are rather small - and we spread a can out over three days... It looks like it would be an economic choice, considering he eats his kibble along with it! Regardless, just wanted to check to see if anyone else has experience with Evangers wet food. I did a preliminary search of the Health and Diet Forum and didn't find anything conclusive. | Thanks Cindy! We're going to purchase a few cans of the different "Game" Meats and see if we can disguise more dry food for Chewie. Tonight, he ate like a KING. Pinnacle Trout Dry food, sprinkled with Nature's Variety freeze dried chicken and turkey, all mixed together with a spoonful of Nature's Variety canned lamb! He was ECSTATIC! What a pup he is! Anyhow, we'll be sure to report more about the Evangers when we have tried a few more varieties on him. The best thing is that it's has already made the transition from Royal Canin to Pinnacle a breeze! Chewie and Christina |

| We're trying to get some Omega Oils into his diet in a more natural way - Whenever we use caplets, Grizzly Salmon, or the squirt the Vet recommended Chewie winds up with loose stool... I'd love to see him with a shiny coat! And considering that he's nearing three and a half and has fantastic teeth - we'll have to keep up the kibble work as well! We adopted Chewie last year - and continue to be amazed at the health that he is in, he is a great little guy! I'm super conscious of the kibble need - as I had a Bichon while growing up that lost most of his teeth. I would hate to see that happen to another dog, and wish that my family knew then what I know now! The freeze dried came as a special treat from the groomer - and we're almost done with our last little medallion. I was amazed at how expensive they are - but was glad to find out about them! We've tried some of the Merrick wet with Chewie - and he loved it. But since it's just Chewie here, it was hard to get through the can quick enough - and he wouldn't eat any dry food that was mixed in, the little brat that he is! <grin> Chewie and Christina |
