| I feed Innova dry to mine. They also get a half a tin of Lil Caesars each in the morning

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Feeding For now Lex gets Nutro Lamb and Rice dry. I also give him grilled chicken or whatever fruits and veggies that we are having during the day. I weaned him off of the Royal Canin on to this. I intend to switch to Merrick when it's time for his adult food. I had originally intended to go to the Merrick but when I asked about it on my other chat no one had any info on it (that was before I joined Yorkie Talk). The Merrick seems to be really good and has gotten a lot of rave reviews here on YT. Good luck in choosing.

| food After many years of Eukanuba/Bil-Jac, I decided to try something new...the girls eat Solid Gold and Natural Balance well...and I feed a good bit of table food..chicken, cottage cheese, veggies, american cheese, rice, turkey, eggs, fish, etc...a couple vets have convinced me that Yorkies are prone to pancreatitis because they do not eat a variety of foods..now I find I can give the girls pretty much anything in small amounts and they do not get loose stools. |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Feeding You know Pat that does sound like a good idea. I am sure that the doggies at your place are very happy to be there. I try to give Lex veggies and fruits. I figured the raw veggies are good for him to eat being chewy and all. I usually steam my rice that I cook for my family so I tend to throw some of that into his bowl for him. I have noticed that if there is no extra goodie in there he is a bit more hesitant about his food...lol. Pat in your experience what do you consider a no-no to feed them? I made shrimps the other night and I wondered if I could give him one. I was worried that he might have a reaction to it. I gave him some of the sauce from it with rice added to his nutro and he seemed ok. Better than ok because he was smiling from ear to ear.

| diet I do hesitate to encourage any table food..I know some do not do well and get diarrhea. I would avoid spicy and greasy foods, perhaps sweets..but I do give the girls a bite of a cookie or cake, they are young and not fat.. I used to be so strict about about diet, but since I only have two instead of twenty, I have changed things a bit. Why could my Doxie's of old eat anything from the table and food from the garbage, dead birds, you name it and it never bothered their stomachs/stools. One Thanksgiving my daughter put some gravy on her Yorkie's dry food..Madison almost died..she had a very bad case of pancreatitis and was sick for a week. I think small bites are the key..not a big helping of any type table food...and you are so right, they can get spoiled... I caution anyone to be very careful and not start with an older Yorkie who has been on a strict dog food diet. |

| I thought dogs weren't supposed to eat people food. Is giving them a premium/natural dry food not enough? I don't want my baby to miss out, but I have always heard to not give dogs anything but dog food. I would appreciate others thoughts on this! thanks, omega |
