				   | We are not sure how often to clip Punkin's nails. The vet said if we walked her mainly on pavement (which we do) than that would probably take care of it. When we took her for grooming last week - they said her nails were too long. So I'm not sure if they are just trying to get us to bring her in more often for services or if the pavement is not doing the trick. How often do you clip? and do you find walking on pavement helps wear them down? Thanks!

				   | Bailey's need trimmed about every 6 weeks, when he needs groomed. I notice in the summer they stay shorter, but in the winter, I definately have to pay attention to the length, cause I let his hair grow longer and don't go to the groomer as much, and there is NO WAY he lets me cut his nails.

				   | Once a month is good. If you let them get very long the quick grows out with the nail and they can't be trimmed as short without causing them to bleed and over time can end up pretty long. I would do it frequently and just cut a little bit off each time.

				   | I would like to cut Loki's nails each WEEK but he has started trying to bite me (never before, the groomer must have hurt him) so now he only gets it done once a month at the groomer. I do not find the sidewalk does enough...and we walk every day in nice weather.

				   | I clip my Yorkie's nails just a little bit every Monday (bath day), but they are rarely exposed to concrete. |

				   | I cut my boys nails every two weeks when they get a bath. I cut just a little at a time. The boys are indoors most of the time.

				   | I try to trim them once a week. I just wish y'all could be here and watch my hubby when he is holding and I am clipping and cut to the quick. You would swear I had cut the dog's throat and it was dying in his arms. He carries on and won't stop til I get the liquid Quik stop and glop it on. But, you see, I learned this is, well, shall we say, an act..He hates holding them for me and he knows I get p.o'd and tell him I will finish the job...well, that used to work.. |
