I have the same problem with mats on Parker. He is 8 months and I wanted to wait and see what his hair would be like long before cutting it, but its SO matted. I've tried to get them out but no luck, there's just so many. One comb that I used just broke the hair and it looks horrible. SO he goes to the groomers next week, I am scared. He's going to lose all his puppy-black hair. He's coming in grey, he'll look like a different dog. Oh, he's mixed with maltese as well, so maybe that's a factor as well.

We have had this same problem with Dudley. He loves to roll around, whether its outside in the grass or inside on the rug, so I thought it might be from that. I have used shampoos & conditioners too. He had a schnauzer cut when we first got him, so we didn't really notice it until his hair started growing out. I will look for that Cowboy Magic at the feed store or get some No More Tangles for him next time I go to WM. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm finding lots of useful stuff here.
