| Seperation Anxiety Question Hey guys! My 11 month old yorkie, Mia gets very upset when we leave her. It got better for awhile but has since gotten progressively worse. I thought at first she just wasn't used to us leaving her, and that it would get better once she got used to the idea... well after having her for 9 months, and leaving everyday for work, she still is not okay with it. The medication Clomicalm was suggested to me, and I just wanted to know if anyone uses this, or knows if I should try it. I don't know if medicating my baby is the best thing, but I also don't want her to suffer anymore. Any suggestions would be great! Thank you! |

| I would try behavior modification before medication. When I leave or when I come home I do not make a big deal about it. Just come and go. No long drawn out good-byes it just upsets them. Coming home I just do a few normal things first and then I sit down and say hello calmly, no "I missed you sooo much" stuff. When you are gone try leaving a tv or radio on. also leave a worn piece of clothing with your scent on it. Hope this helps.

Also I have heard that some only have to go on it for a few months and can hopefully be stopped, but now this other person has used it I think for a couple years now. Good luck.

| Boy- they are just like kids, aren't they? We were away for 5 days and left a good friend to come in and play with our 2. My little one spent a lot of her time on my bathrobe and the other one was in the laundry basket on my sons' t-shirts. She always left music on for them, too. The older one actually made herself sick on the last day. She has pancreatitus and stress can bring on an episode. Needless to say, the soft bowel movements returned in our absence. They went away after 3 days of flagyl and lots of hugs. I know you have to go to work- just make sure there is nothing physically wrong with your baby before you leave - allergies? I know mine would follow me like crazy whenever she broke out in hives. |

| Bunni has the same problem, not so much when we both leave, but when one of leaves. We give her a kong filled with treats to distract her, or filled with frozen peanut butter. It works, most of the time, but when we both leave, we put her in the kitchen and turn the lights out, i've tried with the lights on, but she cries more. when the lights are off, she just lays down in her bed and goes to sleep. That works for me |
