| What's up with THIS? Oz .. my now 7 month old yorkie was a surprise birthday gift from my twin brother .. He was 12 weeks when I got him..anyhoo ..the first day and a half I had him ( before I could get to the store) He was eating purina one lamb and rice , which is what my grown chow mix dogs, age 13, and 9 eat. He was SCARFING! I would feed them seperately, but I was hard pressed to keep the little guy away from their bowls while they were eating .. Ok I'm getting to the point lol... It was about 2 weeks ago I had to work outside the house for a few days and it was Ozzie's first time away from me ... My husband was kind enough to take him to his office .. but it was around this time that Oz started to be a fussy eater. He LOVED the Royal Canin puppy food up until 2 weeks ago. He started to be much more interested in what the big dogs were eating and ONLY got interested in HIS food if one of the other two was hovering over him! ( he would snap at them and nip at their faces if they got too close) For the last 5 days .. he's been doing this odd thing with his food ... He typically likes it OUT of the bowl ( not the odd part yet) so I sometimes put a few bits on the floor or the sofa ( wherever he is) or he eats it right off of my hand .. Only NOW he is pushing it with his nose into a small pile and then pressing his nose on it. He won't eat it at all .. and when I try to coax by holding it up to his mouth ..him he runs away as if he is AFRAID of his food! WTH??!! He did this twice today the first time he ended up eating SOME of his food (only after one of the chows hovered) but not much ... the second time he pushed it around and pressed his nose on it and tried to bury it in the sofa cushions for 10 minutes! It occured to me that the only time he seems interested lately in is the big dogs' food .. So I went to get a handful of the big dog food and BAM .. I put it down and he went nutty on it scarfing it up!! Is 7 months too young to start on regualr food? why in the world would he like the big chunks as opposed to the little bites in Royal Canin? Is he just being a little brother and demanding to eat the same food they do? Ok ..I ramble I know .. can anyone help me out with this? |

| I have always done puppy food till they are one year old. But they do make a puppy food somewhat like adult food as far as the different pieces in it. maybe check into something simular. |

Thanks ... I have a feeling he isn't turning on RC because of the taste or texture .. but because he wants to eat what the big kids are eating ...I just did a little experiment.. it was time to feed the big guys .. I put a little bit of the puppy food in one of the bowls ... the big guy scarfed it and Oz squeezed in and stole some ... | |
