Question The question is do you think you should give a dog parvo guard like you would heartworm and frontline/advantage? Daisy has ALL her shots she's up to date on all of them. She gets heartworm and her frontline once a month, but i've been reading about alot of poor lil ones and parvo and dont want to see Daisy get it. Thanks!!

Actually i just went on-line to read amore about parvo guard and it's not what i orignally thought it was. i thought it was like a preventive like heartworm. I guess it wouldnt hurt to have some on hand just in case.

parvo guard Is Parvo Guard a med for treating Parvo? Parvo is very tricky, lots of false positives, but it is nothing to take lightly. It might ease your mind to know I have had dozens of Yorkies in and through of my life in 30 plus years..never had one with parvo..including the years before they had a vaccine...use good common sense. Vaccinate them when they are young, keep away from strange dogs when possible, keep them confined at the vets in a crate..makes sure the vet table is disinfected and do not allow them on the floor..I do not allow mine on the floor of Petsmart or any place where there are strange dogs. Parvo is not airborne, so that helps. If you go to a kennel or dog show..keep a clean pair of shoes in the truck of the car and change them after the show. Best wishes

| I am really nervous about this outbreak of parvo. I can understand not putting your dog down at the vet or at petco but what about walking outside in the park or on the sidewalk? Vivi was vaccinated but it sounds like that is not a guarantee. Any ideas or opinions about this?

Dont worry, I thought the exact same thing, that it was a preventative. I had to look it up today too

My vet said as long as they are vaccinated that should do the trick from keeping your dog from getting parvo. And so far it has for us. 2 years ago(maybe it was 3 years) I puchased a blue fawn chihauhua sort of on a whim, only to discover she had parvo. I had her for only 24 hours and she was very sick. When I got her she wasnt very active but I was told she was tired from playing all day, and well I was a sucker(couldnt resist her gorgeous color and face). Well Penny my boxer had a litter of 2 week old puppies so when I found out she had parvo I was totally freaked out. Well I of coursed ask the vet about the puppies since they were in the same house as they chihuahua with the parvo, and she said as long as the mother was vaccinated, the pups should be okay. I dont know if it was a miracle, or what but the pups were fine. Thank goodness for vaccines. I dont know what I would have done if anything had happened to Penny or her babies. So yes I think if she is vaccinated you shouldnt have to worry so much

I thought that once they were vacinated then they were protected as long as their vaccinations are up to date? What do you use Parvo-guard for?

My friend's poodle got Parvo and her pup had all of the shots and booster shots. Vaccinations do work most of the time but they are not 100%. You still need to take precautions when you are walking your dog.

Daisy is upto date on all of her shots. But i just get so paranoid and with the outbreaks of parvo lately i get scared. I'm so paranoid i just took her to the vet for a ful" checkup she was just there Jan 12 to get spayed. I dont take Daisy to the dog parks and once in a blue moon to the pet store just to get a new toy i try not to let anyone touch her. The only dog she is always around is my parents doberman which is upto date on her shots. I do give her heartworm and frontline every month as a preventitive. thats why i was asking in the first place if there was a parvo preventitive.
