| Yes you can buy the gravy to put over the food. Or you can just pour some homemade beef or chicken stock to mix in. Im sure its alot cheaper and healthier, seeing how IAMS isnt very good, I cant imagine their gravy being very nutritious either. Just boil chicken or beef with water, save the broth, and you can freeze what you dont use now. But watch for soft stools, if it does, cut back on the amount you do use, or you may not be able to use it at all. It just depends on the doggie. Why is your baby getting picky? Is someone giving too much human food?

I Love Thor Donating Member | HAve you tried just putting warm water on his food? That's what I do for Thor for his dinner. I turn the kettle on and at warm water and mix it around a bit so it makes its own gravy. It's dirt cheap! |

| I bought the gravy and mine really don't care for it. But then - what one dog won't eat - another one loves! Carol Jean |

| You don't even have to make the chicken stock, I just buy organic stock at Trader Joe's (or whatever smaller grocery store you might have). It's like $2 for a quart and it's low sodium and all natural. Loki finally got over his pickiness at about 11 months old. Now he eats his food fine. Have you considered maybe Snickers doesn't like the food? What brand are you feeding. When we switched from Natural Balance to Canidae Loki seemed to have a stronger interest in his kibble. He still likes it over 6 months later, so it wasn't just because it was new.

| I thought natural balance was moist? My concern with natural balance was the trainer gave it as a treat during puppy class and he got diarreah ?sp?. Anyway, he's just being stubborn wanting either his cesurs or our food. |

| Natural Balance Ultra Premium is a dry kibble. They also make wet food and food rolls like salamis. Most food brands make a dry and a wet food. Just about any new treat used to make Loki sick until we put him on Canidae (dry). Don't give in to the begging or not eating or it will never end. Even if you have to hand feed kibble or put it on the floor (sometimes Loki refuses to eat out of a bowl, wierdo) do not give them people food or they will hold out for it. If Snickers won't eat from the bowl it's a good opportunity for training. Try teaching sit or down or something new and feed the kibble as a reward. If Loki doesn't eat his dinner on training class night I just dump it in my treat bag and give him that instead of treats!

| Are you sure he's hungry? Loki only eats about 5 pieces of kibble in the morning and then a scoop at night. He'll eat treats any time, but he'll only eat his kibble when he's hungry. Royal Canin is an OK brand, but there are better ones out there. RC has lots of corn and can cause itching, lots of poop and possibly diarrhea. Do you live near a smaller independent or boutique type pet store? They might carry some better food Snickers might be more interested in. You can buy online too and all of the companies will send you samples if you call/email. Try these websites: www.canidae.com www.innovapet.com www.merrickpetcare.com http://www.oldmotherhubbard.com/dogs..._overview.html

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I used the Iams gravy for awhile then she stopped liking that. I am now making her hamburger and as of today she won't eat that. I am going crazy trying to find something she will eat. Unless at 7 1/2months they don't eat as much as they did when they were younger? I know how you feel!

| For everyone who says "My dog won't eat" how much are you trying to feed them? Quantities vary by weight/age but I mean are you concerned because they aren't eating the amt listed on the bag? Because that is there to sell food and can be way too much. How often does your dog eat, once a day? Because unless you have a 3 pound dog with blood sugar problems, that's not so strange. Also as they get older they will eat less often. The better high protein foods keep them fuller longer, too. Unless you truly think there is a problem you should not be force feeding them and if you DO think there is a problem you should discuss it with your vet. Feel the ribs - you should be able to feel the last 2 ribs without pressing too hard. Take a look at them. Yes they are furry but should have a distinct "tuck up" from the side and a distinct waist from the top. Honestly, if you feed your dog a high quality food that is availalbe at various times per day (either free fed or scheduled meals) they should eat when they are hungry. As long as Loki eats a few pieces every day and eats a "meal" every other day I let it go. He gets a gazillion tiny treats in between and he gets about a tbsp of wet food with meds every night. He's a very healthy weight (which you tell by FEEL not by weight) and he gets a lot of excersize. I hope this helps some of you feel better. I know if I put down dry food and Loki wasn't interested and then I cooked him chicken because I felt bad, he'd NEVER eat the dry food because he'd hold out for the chicken. They are smarter than us! I only do that when Loki is sick or for a special treat, and even for a treat I make him eat a small portion of his kibble first! Think of it this way. If I think "Wow I'm full" after I eat my dinner and my husband asks if I want a second helping, I turn him down. If he brings me a bowl of ice cream, 9 out of 10 times I'm going to eat it! Other may disagree but please don't cook hamburger unless it's super lean. It's too fatty for their sensitive digestive tracts. If you MUST cook then make plain chicken breast, no skin. But that does not have the nutrients needed to sustain them long term. Yes they will be full, but not get everything they need that they can get from GOOD QUALITY dry food. You can sucessfully cook for your dog but it takes more than chicken or hamburger. Also, please stop buying the gravy. Iams states on their site that it's HIGH CALORIE and it's sure not good calories. It's more preservatives. Besides, the first ingredient in the puppy formula is CHICKEN BROTH. At least if you just buy chicken broth/stock you can buy the good stuff. People oppose IAMS because of animal testing. I oppose them because they don't make good products! They don't care about the health of your pet, only how much money than can make by using the lowest quality ingredients and then selling you a bag of food for almost as much as you can get a HIGH quality food for. If all else fails throw the kibble on the floor (placemat, whatever) Try different bowls, try plates. Loki never liked his bowl until I got him a huge ceramic one - his meal doesn't even cover the bottom. He hated stainless steel and he will eat very quickly out of a paper bowl at Grandma's house because then likes to steal the bowl and try to shred it. Try a different brand of kibble (slowly). Whatever you have to do but don't give in!!

| Great note. My concern was that he would eat the wet and leave the dry most of times, but he eventual will nibble. He is a great weight so i won't get the gravy. tx |
