				   | If your little guy isn't getting much exercise, I would work him up slowly. Maybe start with 1/2 mile... and go from there. He will probably tell you when he has had enough..... Yorkies are like that |

				   | Our vet recommended 15-20 minutes and work up to 30 minutes for Toto when she first started exercise & diet! She was not quite 2 yrs. at that time and almost double her recommended weight! Good luck!

				   | Bruce walks for however long he feels like walking he will let me know when he is done...Sometimes he wants to wal for an hour other times only 20 minutes. His favorite thing is being able to run off leash, now that he can do forever.

I dog sit a yorkie that is also 5 year old, 8 - 9 lb yorkie. I usually walk him three times a day... 10 minutes each. But then a couple times a week.. he walks 30 minutes once, 10 minutes twice a day... I think you usually can tell if the dog is tired!! They might stop walking or... you can just tell...

				   | As far as walking - (or running) - I couldn't keep up with either one of my dogs in a hundred years. I would think there might be a difference between a little 3 pound Yorkie and a 7 pound Yorkie. The little ones take smaller steps -- But my Yorkie at 5-6 pounds is go go nonstop. And - like another poster - I think if he were off the leash, he'd go forever, but I do think he gets tired of long leash walks. Remember your dog is taking you for the walk! Carol Jean |
