| Lepto Vaccine Any thoughts on getting it or not getting it? My 1 yr old did fine with it. Recently I heard horror stories of it killing puppies and or making them sick. The 4 mo old hasn’t had it at all but was wondering what your opinions were as well? |

| It’s a very safe vaccine but I would personally only get it if Lepto is a problem in your area.

| Eh. I am biased because my boy had a horrible reaction to it as a puppy. It's common to cause issues in small breeds. So yeah unless it's super prevalent in your area, I may lean towards skipping it.

| Joey basically had bad reactions to all of his shots as a puppy and the first time he also had a reaction to the pain medication they gave him which really made things worse. Even though he seems to handle them better I still do Benadryl before any vaccines and pain meds for 2 days. I was told after Ollies weird allergic reaction to something we never figured out that required an ER vet visit because the poor guy had hives and his lips and eyes were swollen several years ago that he would be more prone to allergic reactions from things like vaccines so he gets Benadryl before any also. The first shot Dixie had with me she almost could not be touched because just picking her up would make her scream out it was terrible and it turned out to be that the Vet was just not great at giving shots and had even made Callie bleed from one once so we make sure that vet doesn't do any shots for us anymore and you would never even know when she got a vaccine now. Mine are very low risk for Lepto and I really have no idea on local Lepto cases so I don't get it. Callie had it in her first puppy shots and never had a reaction but I don't think any of mine now have ever had it.
