Under eye goop
My Bella has been having issues with eye goop building up for the last few months. I usually keep it clean through wiping and bathing but was away for 3 weeks in March and my mom let it build up to the point where I couldnít get it off without hurting her. I had a vet tech come to the house yesterday to give her a grooming and she got it off with clippers. My problem is that she tore the skin under the mat and Iím worried that it will build up again around the sores. Has anyone experienced this and is there anything I can use on the wounds under her eyes, that wonít irritate her too much?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

This happened with Joey when I rescued him. I just clean them everyday. You will have to make sure if someone watches her that they do the same. I honestly would not put anything on it just try to keep it clean.

I found that Mike has eye discharge only in the mornings, after waking up. So I carefully take it right out of his eye corners every morning, it takes just a second. I used to clean it with a wet cloth and brushing the goo out every night but then found it's easier to take the goo out before it dries inside the hair. This way there is no build up and no discomfort for him.

Tibbe has gotten that as he ages so I just lay a moist, folded paper towel across both eyes for about 15 seconds, then carefully apply the fine side of a flea comb to the eye and beard area and comb through, then follow up by washing off the whole area. Soap-wash the flea comb and dry it and redo it all in the evening before bed. Keeps the eyes gook free and the face and beard clean.
These little guys are so short they get all the dust we and they kick up around moving, scurrying feet in their eyes, not to mention out trying to run through the grass which reaches up the near eye level of some of them. Those little eyes act like magnets for dust, dirt.

One must do the best one can. You may get some marks for a very imperfect answer: you will certainly get none for leaving the question alone. C. S. Lewis
