| Excessive hunger in 6 year old yorkie My little Pippy Lou is , in the last month or so, excessively hungry. Just begs, and whines constantly. She is 1 lb overweight at 6 lb 7 oz, and was previously put on science diet metabolic weight control. She also has collapsed trachea, which doesn't allow her to eat much dry kibble as it worsens that condition in her. She eats 1/2 cup of wet food a day, in 3 servings, and a small amount of kibble in between. I am at my wits end here. She has actually gained weight! Help? |

| I would talk to your vet about Cushings. This is a huge symptom. My oldest girl has it and could eat until it made her sick.

| Thank you! I have, however read that excessive thirst is a symptom of Cushing's. Is that true? |

| It can be but not every dog has all the symptoms. My girl who hasn’t doesn’t drink that much.

| My now passed girl had no symptoms of cushings, she was not herself one night when I came home from work so off to the vet we go. This was back in 2007 so I can't remember what was wrong that I took her to the vet. They wanted to do some tests and they kept her over night since it was 8PM when I got to my vet which is open 24/7. The next day they called me, my baby had either Addison's or Cushings, more testing needed to be done so they were keeping her another day. It turned out to be Cushings, she was put meds for the rest of her life and did very well, she passed in 2013 at the age of 17 years old.
