| Hair Loss My Yorkie started loosing hair around her mouth and ears. Vet cannot find the cause. Anyone has experienced this with your Yorkie? Any ideas of why and how to reverse this?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Wow, that is a lot of hair loss! To me it looks possibly fungal. Has the vet done a skin scraping and grown it out in culture for 2 weeks...? Does she itch those areas?

| My vet called me and suggested we give her a tiny dose, a drop of melatonin. Will try that and see what the dermatologist suggests when he sees her. She is very tiny, 2 pounds. She doesn’t go out nor is around other dogs so don’t think she picked it up anywhere.

| Hair Loss I took my Nina to the dermatologist and he scrapped her skin and found she did not have mites. He gave her some drops to put in the ear because he found an ear infection and prescribed antibiotics for the ear and a antimicrobial and anti fungal for around her mouth and ears. She is starting to show some fuzzies. Hopefully her hair is coming back.
