| Anyone ever have cataract surgery? Guinness is going to have it I'm just curious if anyone has had cataract surgery on their little one? Guinness' eyes have been getting worse recently and at his annual check up the vet referred us to an eye care specialist. We went to the appointment and were told he has mature cataracts in both eyes and would be a good candidate for the surgery. We have trupanion insurance so I submitted the pre-approval paperwork and were approved! They are paying $5000 of the $5600 estimate we received...woohoo! He is having it done on November 15th and I really am excited to think he will be able to see again. The eye doctor said that he can see shadows and images but not clearly and that after surgery he should be restored with good vision as long as we follow the drops plan of treatment afterwards. Has anyone else had this done and if so what were your results, experiences...? I'm a little nervous about it, of course the idea of my 4lb. baby going under anesthesia and having his eyes worked on is scary but I'm very hopeful and excited for a positive outcome. I would welcome any experiences or suggestions...thank you!

YT Addict | My Jenna has also been recommended for cataract surgery but won't be having her procedure until December. I would be very interested to know how your Guinness does with his. All the best wishes for you both! I'm just looking into pet insurance now. We never were able to afford it before, so they likely won't cover this procedure. As we have other pets it's just a good idea to finally get it going. Has Trupanion been a good company for you so far? I read a lot of poor reviews about it at Consumer Affairs.
