| Too thin? Recently our little Max had a PCCL to remove a stone from his urethra. The surgery went very well and part of the protocol is to have a visit with a vet nutritionist on staff. She said Max is overweight. We were told not to measure, but rather to weigh his food, along with refraction of his urine twice a day and check it’s ph. Everything seems fine, but the goal for Max was set at 5 pounds 5 ounces. He has lost a half pound in four months. He seems to be bordering on too thin to me. His ribs are very pappalable and he has an obvious waist. Our regular vet says he is doing well. Just can’t picture him another pound thinner. Gew |

| What does your regular vet think about another pound loss?

| I asked her when Max had his three months after surgery for the stone radiograph and urine test. She said that we could cut the refraction tests to once a week as well as the ph. She said he was doing awesome. When I asked about the weight, she said to keep on the same diet as prescribed and weigh him once a week. She said that he did not need to return to the dietician because he was in no way overweight. Okay keep on the diet.....not overweight. Am I missing something? Gew |

| Seriously. I’ve always measured all my dogs food, but the dietitian said that wasn’t good enough. He is to get 47 mg of SO pate and 11 mg of dry SO floated at each meal. It’s a little bit of a pain, but if that’s what it takes, so be it. I’m afraid he’ll have no reserve. He also now feels so fragile. Gew |
