| Giardia I just found out that Zeke has Giardia and am going to pickup his medicine today but I worry about him catching it again. My next door neighbor stakes her s**tzu in the front yard, I live in an apt, and then seldom picks up the poop. She thinks she's doing something special to pick some of it up once a week. The manager is useless. We also live next to a heavily traveled path frequented by tourists and a few don't have their dogs on leashes and they also poop wherever. Plus tons of ticks. So. I'm thinking of trying to make Zeke into an indoor dog. The thing is he loves the outdoors but then he is always sniffing everything. I do have a small balcony where I can go out with him a few times a day but we have hawks and eagles who circle in the summer so he cannot be out there alone. A friend just yesterday saw an eagle dive for a duck and hit him. He was on the freeway so not sure if he picked up the duck. Zeke only weighs 8.7 lbs. Any suggestions for how to ease Zeke into the indoor life? |

| Giardia Is from drinking contaminated water normally. I would never try to make a dog an indoor dog only. They are meant to go outside for exercise and enjoyment. Mine would be extremely depressed if I cut them off from outside. If it came from other dogs then they need to know that their dog could have it as well.

| From the CDC -- Your dog or cat might get infected by: Being in contact with infected feces (poop) from another dog or cat Rolling and playing in contaminated soil Licking its body after contact with a contaminated surface (for example, a dirty litter box or dog cage or crate) Drinking water from a contaminated creek, pond, or other body of water I talked to the vet and she agrees with you Taylor. Dogs need the stimulation from being outdoors. I just need to not let Zeke go in the front yard where the other dog does her thing |
