Keeping an injured pet from most activity? Any ideas?

she doesn't use her crate any more. I had her quiet for most of the day, until those little...... insert colorful four letter words.... came on to our doorstep and caused issues. she jumped off of the couch suddenly and now is limping a bit. I'm angry and heartsick. She was doing so well.

Do you have an Iris Pen...? We have one and have used this for various reasons like 100x over the years, they're awesome!! Walmart usually carries them too!

When my Yorkie was recovering, I kept him in a halter and when he wanted to sit in my lap I attached his halter to a six inch lead which I had around my wrist. Even a slight move by him, alerted me to grab him before he took off.

I bought him a playpen from Craigslist.

We restricted Bella's movement in something very similar following her luxating patella surgery. We put in a nice padded blanket and kept it next to us. We have a second one that contains her potty pad, with the door open so she can go in and out. We still use the one with her potty pad in it, and she uses it perfectly. It's a great way to train and contain the potty pad.

This biggest issues with those is they will not contain climbers. I had Penny in one when she got spayed and she could clear it in 5 seconds. So keep that in mind if you have a climber.

We have a Richell pen for Fabian, because I don't want him to run around the house all day. It's expensive and large, but tall, very tough to climb, and indestructible. He uses it as his "man cave" even when he doesn't have to be in it. https://www.amazon.com/Richell-Conve..._&dpSrc=detail

I often keep them in a stroller so they can go from room to room easily with me....you do have to either enclose them or leash them with a short lead so that they cannot jump out.

I like this idea, especially when she's not upstairs enclosed with me- that's what I'm planning on doing for the next week.

P.S. She's not limping any more, but seems a bit unsteady and unsure. She's still eating like a champ and alert. She spent the later half of the afternoon telling us off because we wouldn't throw the toy dumplings. She's back to licking my legs and feet obsessively, so I'm hoping this is the turning point for a rapid recovery. You know, I was hoping that this would just be a okay, she's recovered!! Yay!! How can you do this so much without wanting to wrap your guys in bubble wrap? Just giving you a virtual high five from my corner of the world. I can imagine how your little guy looks walking- the one in the thread you told me about. Made me smile a bit. Chewie is a pointer, and it's her "pointing" leg that's injured, so man, she's been really ticked off. :/

I hope she continues to improve! Timmy goes to the specialist tomorrow. I probably should start a thread because he is interesting and it might help someone down the road. I am learning as I go with him ... just another yorkie thing I guess.
