| Help with pumpkin ? My boy is having loose stools. He has gone 4 times in the last 24 hrs. It’s not waterery but loose. I changed his food a couple days ago from Blue Basic Lamb for sensitive stomach which he has been doing good on for 6 wks now. I got the same only in the turkey just for a change. This is when he has started being loose. I went and bought the lamb to put him back on and haven’t giving him any food in the last 24 hrs. I gave him a couple teaspoons of pumpkin this morning but wasn’t sure of the dosage. Do you just give it once a day and does anybody know if the amount I gave is ok. He’s between 9 and 10 lbs. I really think it’s just a food change upset. Thanks for any help. |

| That is a normal complaint for blue buffalo they are really not a good company. With holding food for 24 hours is to long. You can with hold for 12 and them offer small meals of a bland diet like chicken and rice. Then if everything gets back to normal you can slowly add dog food back in.

| Even if you only change the flavor of the food and keep the same brand the pup can react negatively to it. Their stomachs are too sensitive. Here is the best way to change the food, please follow and I am almost sure you will not have such problems: Day 1 - Put 20% of the new food and 80% of the old food Day 2 - Put 30 % of the new food and 70% of the old food Day 3 - Put 40% of the new food and 60% of the old food And so on until you completely replace the old food. Good luck! |

| I also do a slow transition, usually over a period of 10 days, 7 days has been suggested. My personal preference is to stretch it over 10 days, there is no noticeable change in his poop this way.

| I had been using Fromm for 6 years on him. I changed it up all the time with the different meat in it but never had an upset. I guess the Blue doesn’t work that way. He got gastritis around 6 week ago so I changed to Blue for sensitive stomach. |

| Blue Buffalo is known to cause GI issues even to healthy dogs. I would never feed my dog them. They have extremely bad quality control. They were sued about lying about what’s in their food. They are now being sued because lead was found in their food. They just aren’t trust worthy and it’s scary. They spend soooooooo much on advertising but very little on their food.

| I personally prefer foods with vet nutritionists on staff, that do food trails and have good quality control like Royal Canin, and Hills.

| May I ask if he was doing okay on Fromm, why did you change to Blue? My two eat Fromm and Acana. I always do super slow transitions.. When they used to get sick, I'd give them one ice-cube-sized piece of frozen canned (100%) pumpkin once a day for a few days. My two are around 5lbs.

| He’s doing fine now. Back on Fromm. He was having allergy and upset stomach so I was afraid it was the Fromm he had developed allegry to. I will never feed Blue again. Thanks |

| Glad he is doing better. Food allergies are actually pretty rare.
