No Anesthesia Teeth Cleaning

Troy was about 4 pounds and he had two dentals in his short life and I had no issues , so my concern about Emma not taking the drug well etc are about 30% where cost was more like 70%. I think bc when I lived in GA vetinary costs are so much more affordable I have major sticker shock when my vet gives a quote on care. I even had the option in GA to go to low cost centers and it seems that this area has little to none of that option.

I know MD has a few low cost clinics. Spay Now! is one -- there is one in Laurel and on the Eastern Shore. Jackson was neutered there and they've gotten even better since then. I quite like them as far as "low cost clinics" go. They seem to take diligent care. They require pre-op bloodwork etc. My dads dogs go there and we've always had great service.

Jackson is getting pre-op bloodwork on Tuesday and then I'm scheduling a dental with our regular vet. I'm predicting it to cost in the vicinity of $400.

Well I was wrong. I guess it's gotten pricier through the years. Low estimate is $600. But that includes all the extra necessities as well. They're not predicting having to pull any teeth but they do x-rays as well to be sure so that's included in the cost as well.

Thank god for Care Credit haha! I never got insurance on Jackson and now with him being 9, the monthly cost is too high. Next pup I will get it when they are young. But the Care Credit enables me to just make payments and not get hit all at once. I always pay it off sooner than necessary though because the interest rates are very very high.

That is about what I pay. The xrays are ultra important...that is great your vet does them!

Callie's was $500 then they told us about 20% off in October at our vet and it went to $335 (I did blood work before had so it didn't include that) but she needed 3 big skin tags removed so it went up to $700. We used care credit for some of it but I also saved cash for most if it. Things are getting crazy pricey anymore.

Yeah, it's worth my peace of mind to pay their prices because I trust their care so much so I know I'm getting what I am paying for. The dental radiographs are low price $150, high price $170. They do fluids through IV, intravenous catheterization, isoflurane, antibiotic injection the morning of (and antibiotics I am to give beginning 3 days prior - they want to do just in case any infection since his gums are slightly red, they'd rather be safe). Of course a pain injection and any meds to go home is included as well. They put extractions in the estimate just in case.

I think the low cost clinics could likely do a sufficient job for most dogs but I want to know I did everything in my power to give him his greatest odds, basically. I even got him his echocardigram after our vet heard a heart murmur back in March so that I had peace of mind with that (result was innocent murmur and nothing to fret over at this point).

It really is! I am thinking my last vet where he got his last dental done did not do x-rays prior? and maybe that's why it was cheaper.

Quality care is super important. The costs of vet care these days is really crazy..

I am afraid of low cost clinics ... there are really good ones but you still don't get the same kind of care.
