| You can use a baby tooth brush or buy a dog one. You cannot use human tooth paste you must use dog tooth paste. I like CET. You need to brush the teeth at least every other day for it too do any good.

| If I remember correctly, fluoride that found in our toothpaste is poisonous to dogs, am I right? |

| You can onto the VOHC page and see what products have been approved by the Veterinarian Oral health doctors. I brush almost every day. I use PetSmile and a tinnie tiny little tooth brush that CET makes. Sometimes I just put the toothpaste on my finger or use a small 2x2 piece of gauze and rub it in her teeth and gums. She will let me use the electric Oral B. Brush, but is not too fond of the noise it makes.

| I bought doggy toothpaste and use a human baby's toothbrush to brush my Yorkies' teeth.

| The main problem with human toothpaste is an artificial sweetener often present called xylitol. It is absolutely lethal to dogs.

| It's the same reason you can't allow your dog to get into sugarless gum or some diabetic food. Because the artificial sweetener xylitol is extremely poisonous to dogs, much moreso than even the darkest chocolate.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | YTer Sugarmamma has had good luck conditioning her dogs to an electric toothbrush. Her vet raves about how good their teeth are. Unfortunately, my dogs freak out.
