| yorkie acne? Ok has anyone ever experienced this? I have noticed the last couple days Hayley has like red bumps with puss like stuff just like zits on her belly. She was spayed 3 weeks ago and I was just wondering if it could be ingrown hairs where they shaved her. She is on flea and tick prevenitive but she has spent a lot of time outdoors the last week so I was wondering it it could be bug bites or what? Please any info would be so appreciated

| Puppy acne... I took Oscar to the vet for the same reason - I noticed these reddish bumps that kindof looked like pimples on his skin - but he was scratching so they were scabbing - The vet said that puppies often get a form of "puppy acne" (there's a fancier name for it that I can't recall) and that it will go away on its own. It could also be what you said - from being shaved for her spay. If it's just a couple spots, they don't irritate her, and they start to dry up, I would just leave it be. I spent almost 70 bucks so my vet could tell me that Oscar was fine.

| Do the bumps contain a yellow substance? I also think it's probably a bacterial infection, but you might be right about it being ingrown hairs. I know I used that Nad's on my legs and every single hair became ingrown and I had bumps, but no pus. |

| or it could be an allergic reaction if her tummy's shaved it my be the first time her tummy skin's actually been exposed to something she might have an allergy to. Just an idea. I find a little bit of diluted vetadine (animal iodine) applied with a cotton ball or similar is good for a lot of skin problems. Give her ear scritchings from me.

| I just found this online.... sounds like what you were describing.... Puppy acne and a related condition, called impetigo, are skin conditions that affect dogs under one year. Both are caused by a bacterial infection. Puppy acne will appear on your dog's chin, while impetigo occurs on her tummy. Both look very similar to human acne. Sometimes the bumps will be tiny, but in other cases they will be filled with pus. It's possible to fight these acne infections with 2.5% benzoyl peroxide soap (rinse well!) or by dabbing on 70% isopropyl alcohol. However, these may also irritate some dogs who have sensitive skin. And some dogs will make matters worse by scratching and infecting the bumps even more. Just like human teenagers, your dog may "outgrow" puppy acne once she gets older. But some dogs can develop a persistent acne infection. Your dog may need antibiotics or prescription strength topical medications to knock out the problem. If your young dog develops red acne-like bumps that make her miserable, talk with your vet. Relief may be just a visit away!

| Hi! I had similar problem and I used benzoyl peroxide which is also used for human' acne. My friend told me to chceck on curology reviews, but I think that she was just joking as it's a human treatment...but if benzoyl works maybe that would too XD |
