YT 500 Club Member | ![]() I have looked the selves over for a low fat, but not weight control, dry food for my Ruger. He has had one bout of pancreatous. His Nutri Source was just about gone and I wanted even a lower fat content. I read the bags of all the popular dry food. All the fat % was at least 15 to 20% fat. I ended up buying Merrick Real turkey & Sweet potato. Protein is 26% & fat 13%. I heard this is made in Texas. Does anyone know for sure where it's made? Has anyone had problems with this food? I started today mixing this with his Nutri Source, and he seemed to like it. He has not had another attack. My Vet recommend not doing any changes except watch his treats and of course no people food no matter how healthy it may be. Thank to all that give advice on this 😍

| ![]() I don't know much about Merrick's.. sorry. But as an alternative, what about Acana's Light and Fit? http://acana.com/our-foods/heritage/light-fit/ It has 11% fat and 35% protein. And also Fromm's Shredded Chicken Entree (canned) https://frommfamily.com/products/fou...ical-analysis/ It seems to have low fat (not really sure how to read it, since it's based on per 100grams) Not sure if this helps. ![]()

| ![]() I had a very hard time getiing mia use to a food without having any reactions , i had tried every brand possible.Canidae, natures variety , natura balance, wellness, blue, you name i tried it. I had great success with merrick on Mia, she seemed to be allergic to chicken and most formulas contain chicken so it was pretty hard for me. I ran into merrick through a manager at Petco and he suggested I try it , i saww all the formulas but once i saw the turkey and sweet potato i settled. Mia has been eating this for almost a year now and she is one healthy, allergy free dog. Unfortunately, im going through the same struggle with my 1yr old Max and Merrick did not do well on him, i tried the texas beef , small breed and also real beef and it still didnt do well on him. He is alot more sensative to formulas and changes then Mia in many ways. I deff think the Turkey and Sweet potato formula is the best one they have.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | ![]() To be honest, there is no food out there that hasn't had some sort of issue -- so even if you hear of an issue w/ this food - don't discount it. I've heard good things about Merrick and know of many people here who feed it and are very happy w/ it. If your kiddo does well on it, and it's the right fat % - feel good about it ![]()
