| Scooting Butt Are there any other reasons a dog would scoot on their butt beside an anal sac problem. Boomer has been scooting on his but recently probably 2-3 times a week. I mentioned it to the Vet last week and he said his anal sacs were fine. He didn't see any issue. He felt around the butt and expressed the glands. He needs to go to the groomers so I thought it maybe that poop is getting stuck in his hair but I haven't seen any when I go to wipe him. He does have allergies but lately they haven't been bothering him. So I am at a loss as what else it could be. Could it possibly be he just enjoys scooting on his butt? He doesn't do it every time we go for a walk but it is more than once a week I am noticing and usually on wood or tile flooring. Thanks, |

| Piper does the same thing--every few months. I, too, checked with vet and all is fine. I'll be curious to learn what this goofy behavior is about...! |

| Sometimes their sacs get filled faster. If I see Magnus scooting, I just express his glands. Zoey.. her butt's too small and I can't seem to get it right so I take her to the vet to get it done. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It could be that there is something in her current food that is somewhat irritating to her GI tract. If the scooting is once in a while, it's really no biggie - could just be an itch. If it's often, then I'd be looking at other foods.

| Just throwing this out to you...Worms will cause them to scoot. Did your vet do a fecal? Check your pups poo to see if you see anything. You can also check your pups bedding to see if you see anything that may look like rice. From what I've been told fecal exams can sometimes be false/negative if worms are not shedding eggs. Hope you find out what is causing your baby to scoot!
