What does it mean when mom starts to regurgitate their food ? My cocker spaniel had 6 pups(3 boys/3 girls) 4 1/2 weeks ago will be 5 weeks on thursday. Anyhow she still feeds a little bit but she has gotten in the habit to throw up chunks of food while feeding??? Is this for the pups to eat, maybe her way of weaning them off? I am sure I read this somewhere but cannot find it, thanks!

I know birds do this..but not sure about dogs. Seem like I saw wild dogs on TV..go out of the den come back after eating and regurgitate to the pups. I guess that could be what she is doing. Is she doing it right after she eat?

My mom did that too, its like she was telling baby..grow up,no more titties, here it is "somewhat chewed",then after a couple of days he went for the regular food, now he is on both soft and kibble, totally off mom,and no more upchucking, and everyone is happy

so she is weaning them off herself! WOW she is a first time mom, I am sooo proud! hee hee anyhow, I did start putting them on the puppy soft food, then I tried the hard food mixed w/ pup milk, but I guess I should just do grinded puppy food byitself almost like powder..... so no more mom or only maybe at night for a bit and let them sleep bythemsleves???/
