| Protein % in dry food Hi, Tessa currently eats Natural Balance small bites and does well on it and likes it. She is extremely active each day and runs and walks a lot. Just turned one year old. I have read about Royal Canin Yorkshire Terrier adult food. The protein percentage is just slightly higher than the Natural Balance. So, my questions are - has anyone feed their Yorkie the Royal Canin Yorkie food and what is the appropriate protein percentage for a one year old active Yorkie? Thanks all. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Many here do feed Natural Balance or Royal Canin - neither is too high in protein. Some of us here feed much higher proteins as we prefer it for our dogs, and they do great. So it depends upon what you prefer. The foods I recommend are Primal, Natures Variety, Natures Logic, Wellness Core, Orijen/Acana, Solid Gold's Wee Bits or Barking At The Moon...

Yorkie Yakker | I recently switched Roxie who will be 2 November 4th to Royal Canine, which she likes. She only eats about 5 kibbles a day, I also feed her about a tablespoon of wet food, but I am finding it hard to find something she really likes. The vet says her weight is great so I assume what she is eating is enough |

| I recently switched to Natural Balance on my Vet's recommendation for their food allergies and my dogs love it. (right now they are on the duck and potato grain free for small breeds) I even give them pieces of kibble for treats when we go to training class. Before I was on Blue Buffalo and They didn't care for it as much. My Vet also recommended Nature's Variety. |

| My vets recommend Royal Canin, Hill's or Purina foods. I home cook and one of my dogs is at over 40% protein. The others are around 20-25% and all have done very well. The one on the higher amount is just on that due to the ingredients I'm using at the moment.
