| Treat Dilema My 13 yr old Yorkie, Jaya, has only 3 teeth left. I've brushed her teeth every day since she was a puppy. Vet says its just a genetic problem with Yorkies. That said, I'm looking for a treat that she can handle. I've tried many many so called soft treats, she either hates them or seem to me to be a choking hazard. After spending 10.00 per 4 oz bag of treats over and over, I realized that I can get deli sliced turkey breast with no sodium for about 10.00 per pound and that's what she has been getting and I'm worried about protein issues with her liver etc. she probably gets a large tablespoon full, shredded in a 24 hour period. Can anyone comment or give suggestions? Thanks! |

| How about frozen green beans, or boiled fresh carrots, frozen peas but check the calories on the peas, great for treats and soft for senior pup. If your pup is ok with dairy products I use to give my senior girl cottage cheese, just a TBSP as a treat, she LOVED it.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Does she have liver issues or something? If she doesn't, I wouldn't worry about giving protein based items as treats. What about a Kong with the meat inside?

| Thank you Ann. Good to know, I was concerned about the protein. I had to smile when I read about the Kong-Jaya doesn't like to work that hard!! She might be a little spoiled?! I will try it again, after all she ate a pea!! Thanks to both of you, Matese and Ann. |
