| Won't really eat food I have a 6 week old puppy named Scrappy, the previous person had him on Cesar puppy food. When I got him I bought him Cesar puppy food cause I didn't want to drastically change his food. Someone told me that when I was ready to switch from Cesar to Science Diet, to mix the portions at first so he can eat it and I did. He ate it, now that I'm ONLY giving him Science Diet he will take maybe 3 licks and back away from the food.... What should I do? |

| I don't want to sound rude but you should not be changing a 6 week old pups food at all, the pup should still be with the mother. How long have you had him? If he was eating the Caesar puppy food just fine then he needs to go back on that food because that's what his body has adjusted to. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Honestly, I would switch back to giving at least 3/4 Ceaser and 1/4 of the SD...give him the Ceaser bc that's what he *will* eat at this point. And do not switch or change the food until he is at least 12-16 weeks old. He's way too young to be upsetting the balance at all.

If it aint broke, DONT FIX IT!!!!!! 6 week old puppy should not even be away from mom, but that is a done deal.....if this baby is even eating at all from a saucer or dish, dont monkey with something that is working just fine. If you think you want to start changing this enfants food around, change it for the better....Royal Canin mousse or Royal Canin puppy food....canned for now, then you can switch him over to RC puppy kibble initially soaked with a little warm puppy milk (Just Born), then when your immature baby is old enough to be eating strictly dog food, advance to RC puppy kibble without soaking it in any liquid. RC is very palatable, especially for the sensitive puppy taste buds, he should love it....hopefully he has not been confused with switching food on him this early. | |
