| strange mass in my yorkie's belly??? Hello. I'm new to the forum so excuse me if I'm writing where it's not. you see, my girl turned 1 year old in july 10th, and thus far, has gotten no problems with her health, only for a minor allergy problem with her ears that was treated as soon as I noticed. After she went through her 1st heat, her tummy swell and her breast looked like they had milk! Insane...but it eventually went away...and now, like 3 or 4 months after her heat, she began to show what it looks like a mass in all of her lower tummy, and yeah I took her to the vet, who examined her only physically, and told me she had a Mastitis. He then gave me antibiotics which i give her everyday, 2 times daily. And the mass has gotten pretty small, but today i was checking on her and felt something near her ribs, and when i checked it was another round, big mass, similiar to the one she had on her lower belly! But my question is, if it is the same thing (Mastitis) isn't the antibiotic supposed to SUPPRESS any further infections? Im desperate. ..she doesn't look in pain at all, and plays all day long, but I'm afraid that I'm not dealing with a mastitis and it may be a cancer :'( my vet doesn't work today so i can't call in. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi and welcome to YT . So sorry you're having to deal with a scary issue. It's so tough to say whether the new lump is also mastitis...does it feel like it? And yes, theoretically, if she is still on the meds one would think that any add'l infections would *not* develop here. I'd try not to worry too much at this point, and make an appt to get back in ASAP.
