| Allergies? Hi YT, For the past few days, my Winston has been licking incessantly. Just licking nothing, mostly his nose. Over and over and it's driving me crazy (it must be driving HIM even more crazy!) I'm not sure what's going on, but I've also caught some sneezing from both him AND my cat. Has anyone had any experience with allergies? I just went to the vet last week and got a clean bill of health (along with clean blood work) so the last thing I am left to assume is allergies. Has anyone else had experience with anything like this? I've read that Yorkie's can take Benadryl, but I'd like to know how much? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I have lots of experience w/ allergies, w/ 2 of mine. I would not use Benadryl as it usually does not work well and you must give it every 4-6 hours for it to remain therapeutic. I'd use a 24hr med...most Vet Derms recommend Zyrtec or Claritin. Read more about how to approach allergies here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...tart-here.html For your kiddo though, I'd also be wondering about reflux, or, if something is stuck in the nose or throat: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...wallowing.html

| Thank you! I started him on Pepcid last night. He's still air licking and seems generally uncomfortable at times, but we'll see if this works after a 24 hour period. Also picked up some doggie probiotics, as well as some Animals' Apawthecary Phytomucil which I read is really great for pups that suffer with GERD. I'm crossing my fingers that this dang air licking stops soon! |
