Hate to break it to you but holistic vets make a profit off the food and supplements they peddle. Last I checked, my vet made more money off veteribary services over the pennies made off cans and bags of RX foods which are usually only sold for dogs with medical issues. Holistic vets carry foods for dogs that are not sick, so it could easily be argued that they have more of a stake in the pet food industry than conventional vets selling only prescription foods. Vets do have training in nutrition... About the same # of hours in other areas like dentistry or cardiology. If you want more than general knowledge, you can seek out a specialist.
