Ears? Bailey will be 11 weeks old on Saturday, the 19th and his ears aren't standing up. I've tried looking online to see the average age that yorkies ears start standing up but haven't had any luck. I even tried searching on this forum, but couldn't find anything. So can anyone tell me when his ears should be standing? Or at what age is safe to start taping? As cute as he is with floppy ears, I really want his ears standing. Any links to information? Thanks

I have no idea if there is an average age for ears to stand....I do know my former yorkie had floppy ears....I ran into the breeder one day in town...(we live in a small town)..and she told me to bring him by her house......she trimmed all the hair off his ears and the next morning his ears were up and stayed up after that. Also, some small pups will have episodes of ears (that were standing up) that occ 'flop' because of illness...stress...teething.... and such. Hope this helps.

Perky Ears Hi! I'm new here and loving it! I have two Yorkies, Simon (1 year) and Hallie (3years old). I have had Simon since he was 8 weeks old and his ears went floppy the same time he started teething. My vet at the time said it was very normal and they perked up about a month later. He was so cute with his floppy ears

My yorkie, Gizmo is 16wks old and his ears arent up yet. I did read in some websites that most are standing by 3months but it will be iffy after 6months. They also may never stand. I decided to start working on it since hes still below 6months and I did trim the top of his ears and then taped them. I only left it on for 2days although they say longer but just to see what the status was. I was truly amazed that they did stand up but it only lasted that 1day. I'am currently giving his ears a rest and am gonna retape tom and this time for atleast 5days. I'm just afraid he'll get an infection or something. Heres the website...theres 3 different links for the ear taping for yorkies. http://members.cox.net/jrogan/ears.html http://members.aol.com/CYorkie/TapingEars.html http://glassyorkies.homestead.com/care.html I ended up using masking tape...the johnson one really didnt do anything for mine, his ears still drooped but with the maskin tape they were straight up. Although they are back down now they are perkier than they were before I taped them for the 2days. Well worth it and I look forward to trying again for a longer period. Goodluck!
