| Advice needed on food & supplements We are bringing home our newest Yorkie in about 2 weeks. She is nearly 8 months old, is very small, and has been eating dry Merrick grain-free beef kibbles with a little water added. Any other suggestions from any experts on this site? Also, because our tap water is known to contain small amounts of arsenic (common throughout the state we are told), we drink and use bottled distilled water for ourselves and for our prior Yorkies. Now we have been spooked a bit by the breeder who says the dog needs its minerals in the water. What about a supplement like NuVet or something else? Any thoughts would be very helpful. This is our 5th Yorkie in nearly 40 years and we certainly want to do the right thing for our newest baby. Thanks in advance. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | CONGRATS on your soon to be new baby! And, WELCOME to YT . That's a decent kibble, so I def wouldn't change it...at least not right away when you want the puppy to adjust to a new home. If you feel like changing it, I'd wait a good 3+ weeks. As for water, we give our dogs Gerber Nursery water, which adds some minerals back in. Many of us here give bottled water. Your kiddo will get a balanced diet (incl minerals) from his kibble.
