| Need Advice Hi. I just took my 12 week old to the vet yesterday and got his vacinations. They weighed him and he is at 5 lbs 3 oz. When I took him in at 8 weeks he weighed 3 lbs 10 oz. I am a little concerned of one of two things. His dad was 4 lbs and his mom 8 lbs. I thought he would end up being around 7 or 8 lbs. Is he really going to double the 5 lb 3 oz and be a 10 lb dog? I know that it is hard to know, just by experience I would like some advice. I love him to pieces and dont care if he is 10, just wondering if I am feeding him to much. He eats 3 times a day. Nuto Natural dry , with a small teaspoon of ceasars so he will eat it. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I dont want a tubby boy, but need to know if he is eating to much. He gets about 1/4 to 1/3 cup 3 times a day. |

| You are probably not feeding him too much, especially if the vet did not say anything about his weight. If he was already over weight, you vet would have mentioned it. Also your puppy could have had a growth spurt and may taper off for the next few weeks. You may still have a 7 - 8lbs baby. It's so hard to tell. If you have read any of the threads dealing with this issue, you will know that the weight varible is so wide that it's anyone's guess. |

| My little man sounds exactly like yours. His mom was 11 lbs and his dad was 4 lbs. He weighed 5 lbs at 13 weeks. We were feeding him 3 meals 1/4 cup each meal. At 12 weeks he looked like a little linebacker. At almost 8 months he's probably about 10 lbs. Was yours by far the biggest in the litter? Our little guy was twice the size of his siblings. I would ask your vet if they think your little one is overweight. Ours hit a growth spurt at about 14 weeks and got long and lean. If you think he looks heavy you can cut back his food a bit and see what that does.

| Thanks for the info. I know it is hard to guess, and thats pretty much what it ends up as, a guess. I love Baxter and am really enjoying my little guy. He is so funny, and loves to play with my mini wiener dog Missy. She is 9 lbs and the race around all day. I am so glad I got him. He follows me everwhere and is the sweetest and sometimes mischevious little guy. |

| Baxter was the same size as the other 2 boys in the litter. So, idon't think he is the odd one. The vet seemed to think he was healthy and nice. I am just trying to make sure he stays healthy. He isn't really pudgy, hes full of energy and runs a plays alot, then boom, he's sleeping. So cute. Thanks for the reply. |

| Porkie Yorkie! My Roxy was the same weight and she is now 9 lbs. It's funny because I really wanted a tiny yorkie. But I was afraid of all of the problems that come with them. I chose Roxy because she was the biggest in the litter. Turns out she has many health problems. My good friend has the 3 lb. yorkie and she is healthy as an ox! Go figure!! Anyway, try having a friend that has a tiny yorkie. All I hear is how HUGE Roxy is when I come over with her. Not from my friend but her husband and kids. It makes me feel bad. But she does look huge next to Nyla! She is 3 times bigger than her!! Roxy just turned a year old and I have finally stopped obsessing about her weight. Shes only BIG when we go to Nyla's house. She's our LITTLE girl! Roxy's mom, Maria |

| Sully's mom was 7 pounds and his dad was 6 pounds and Sully is over 8, almost 9 pounds! Goes to show you, you just never know. But I've compared Sully to other 6lb dogs, and the ONLY difference is his length! Weird to say but he's the same height and girth as the 6lb dogs, he's just long-torso I guess.
