There are other brands on the list. I know Canidae, Wellness, Chicken Soup, California Natural, Royal Canin were on the list I saw last week. All I suggest is you go to the internet and look up each food and type in that you want a list of the ingredients for each food.

| If anyone is interested, I've researched Candidae. It's all natural - no corn, no wheat, no soy , no fillers, no grain fractions, no by products and naturally preserved. Its formulated for all life stages. It has 4 human grade meats - chicken, turkey, lamb & fish. All natural ingredients. Crude Protein = 24% Crude Fat = 14.5% Crude Fiber = 4.00% Vitamine E = 200.00 IU/kg Balanced Omega 6 & 3 fatty acids (5:1 ratio) AND, THE BITES ARE VERY TINY PIECES! Our 2 Yorkies had a race for supper to see who could eat it the fastest!*! Dog-gone dogs! hehe

| Heidi has been on Royal Canin 28 for 3 1/2 of her 4 years with absolutely no problems. I think we will stick with it for quite a few more years. S/W

| Did I miss something? Not just a week or so ago everyone was praising Chicken Soup for how wonderful the ingredients were and how well their dogs ate it. Now, since someone mentions a POSSIBILITY that there's a problem with the food everyone's jumping ship? I haven't seen anything concrete that's given me reason to believe that this food isn't exactly what I thought it was...a wholesome, well-made food for my dogs. That, by the way, I have finally found they will eat consistently. I understand that we all love our babies and don't want to take chances with their lives, but the food I have in my pantry was purchased weeks ago. Thanks to the fact that the store is more than an hour away and I've got to stock up when I can. Is there really a concern here? Both my dogs have been eating it as their man source of nutrition for months and neither have been healthier or happier. Even my timid female has been loving and friendly-is it possible she just had an upset stomach all this time? Just my humble opinion-

| I just ordered Chicken Soup off the Internet b/c of all they hype. It actually was delivered to my parent's house and is still there. I was going to start feeding it to her tomorrow, but I'm going to wait until the tests come out. If everything is okay, then I'm going try it. Also, just my opinion, but don't you think that Diamond already tested ALL their food when the recall came out? Maybe this woman's humble pet died and is trying to blame someone? People file lawsuits nowadays quicker than they change their underwear. Don't know...just a thought.

| During the adoption of Ransom, his breeder and I discussed the recall of some formulas on the Diamond. I also have read this same info posted that Diamond put out. Ransom was/is on the Lamb/Rice adult formula Diamond brand along with her other Yorkies. This type is not under any recall. My girls are on the Nutro Ultra but the pieces are too big for Ransom to chew. I am in the process of switching the girls (Schatzie and Annabelle) over to the Diamond Lamb/Rice formula which Ransom eats, as both this Diamond formula and Nutro Ultra share the same high quality ingredients.

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | While I don't use this brand of food I think Muffies mom posted something WORTH sharing and it's up to each person to make the decision whether to be cautious or keep using it - Personally - IF I saw that something I was feeding my girls was iffy - I'd change food...but this kind of info is always good to know about whether it's a small or big deal... The Diamond Dog food was a big deal and hopefully this isn't going to be a repeat. |

| People need to be aware of the situation and make their own decisions. If I bought my dog food at Costco (Kirkland) and Chicken Soup dog food then I would want to know what the outcome was on the other dogs that died. The company has posted what dates of production and if I had the other brands produced during this time then I would not use those bags. Just like when Tylenol had their problems and it to survived.

| MSN's headline today is "Contaminated Food Kills Dozens of Dogs". Apparently there are now 76 known deaths related to contaminated Diamond pet food. Here is the article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10771943/

| Here's another article about Diamond and a pet who is sick and one who died. http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/01/09/tox....ap/index.html Our little Chase recently had liver problems similiar to the symptoms described in this thread. At the time he was on IAMS. He ended up in the hospital on high doses of antibiotics through and IV, but recovered completely except that his hair changed (the long silver hair on his back fell out and short black hair grew in) and he has gained weight. The vet thought that he had a virus or had been poisoned, but our dogs are inside and in a secure dog run, never loose to be exposed to a poison. Now I wonder if Diamond makes IAMS. Now all of our dogs are on Hills Prescription p/d because that's what the vet recommended for my puppy, Zoe, and she insists on eating out of the other dog's dishes with them. Our 14 year old spitz mix doesn't mind Zoe being in her dish and it is easier to feed them all the same thing. Does anyone know anything about Hills? Is this a good food? It's very expensive. |
