Yorkie Yakker | anxiety?! Hellol! My girl Sony has been having diarrhea every two and a half weeks or so. The first time I brought her in she had claustridium bacteria and she was put on antibiotics and panacur and probiotics. It cleared up right away and then 2 1/2 weeks later the diarrhea came back. I took her back to the vet and they did another round of the antibiotics and panacur. It cleared up again and then two and a half weeks later it cane back.... back to the vet we go again. They tested her stool a billion different ways And there Was nothing in it that could've caused issue. I know her blood work is good and she had a sonogram and x-ray in November which were fine. The doctor wants to put her on clomicalm because she thinks it is due to anxiety because her immune system should be better than it is. It does make sense because every time it starts it is a couple days after we did something out of the norm... this time it was boarding. Anyone else have their baby on clomicalm? Does it work? I just dont want her to be a walking doggie zombie. I need to do something because I am spending well over one hundred dollars every two weeks and am strapped.... even with the care credit card. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | If the vet thinks it's worth a try, I'd go for it. I wouldn't worry too much about side effects - at first, she may have side effects but these often go away with a little time when it comes to antianxiety meds. I hope it works! Please keep us posted.

YT 2000 Club Member | Could she have stress colitis? It happens when they get stressed from changes in their routine. I have a medication that I give when it happens. It is Metronidazol and comes in a tablet or my vet makes it into a liquid and I give with a syringe.

Yorkie Yakker | Ok thanks! I will give it a try. The vet said it should just take the edge off. I will definitely keep posted. I have het on Arafat's and probiotics for her tummy right now. They were going to make the clomicalm into a liquid form since Sony is so small. I am sure that would probably make it easier to give her too. |
