| Blood in Urine Good Morning: This morning my 10 year old Yorkie Luci had bright red blood in her urine on two occasions. She is behaving normally and doesn't appear to be in any discomfort. Two years ago she had blood in her urine. Her vet said she had some crystals in her urine and sent her to a vet hospital for further evaluation. There she had a procedure where they put a scope up her and into her bladder and took 3 biopsy samples of her bladder. Never again will I do that! Poor Luci was so uncomfortable for days, peeing every few minutes with clear discomfort, and to top it all off, the biopsy samples weren't big enough to test. So, I don't know what to do. I certainly don't want to put her thru any invasive procedures. She's behaving normally. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated! Regards, Denise

| she may have a history of this, my friend is currently going through something similar. started with urinary stones and the type of stones indicated it could have something to do with liver. biopsy acid bile test and cat scan later, it turned out to be a liver shunt and he just had surgery for it. Have you had an acid bile test done and do you know if the stones were. The 3 Breeds Most Vulnerable to Having Uric Acid Bladder Stones |

| She has had micro vascular dysplasia (type of liver disease) since she was a puppy and has been on Hills L/D since then. No shunts though. The crystals she had before were in her bladder, but I will most certainly not put her thru any type of invasive procedure again. She was worse off after and it broke my heart to see her in pain and discomfort.

| my friend joined a yahoo group on liver and there are many with MVD, her dog is being tested for that this week too. They advise on home made eating plans to reduce the purites in their meals and it has a fountain of information. let me see if I can find you the link. https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/search?...0mvd%20support You can also give cranberry supplements to her for UTI's |

| Have you started with a urinalysis and culture? That would be followed by an ultrasound which is non invasive.

| She is doing just fine. No more incidents of blood. It happened a few times that one day and was gone by the time I got home from work.
