Seaweed! High Value Treat at our house!

Mmmmmm, I love me some seaweed! My fave is seaweed salad at the sushi place - but I also buy seaweed sheets from Whole Foods. Never thought to give them to the kiddos - but what a great treat!

Ann, the bright green seaweed salad at sushi places is a seaweed called wakame. You can also buy this dried. make it yourself and it's much cheaper! Even at my very cheap Korean market, it's about $6.99/lb. At other markets it usually $8.99/lb. I also love wakame but they always get stuck in my molars!

I lovelovelove this dish so much! I always get it prior to eating sushi. I too have seen it at little markets and am always surprised at how pricey it is! I will now look for the dried version instead...we have a huge grocery store here that sells mainly Chinese/Korean/Japanese/Indian/kosher/int'l etcetera - and I know they must have it. Thanks for the tip!

It contains: Seaweed, corn oil, grape seed oil, sesame oil and sea salt. The only issue I have is that it is made in Korea - but since I am only giving it out in small amounts as a high value treat, AND it was made for human consumption, I think it'll be ok.

Sounds like a great treat, but is grape seed oil safe for dogs? As its been mentioned that they can't eat grapes, thats got me confused.

Grapeseed oil is different. I think what makes grapes and raisins poisonous for dogs is the skin.

growing up as korean, my grandmother never bought pre seasoned seaweed.
She always bought plain(sushi type) seaweed and brush some sesame oil on one side and sprinkle some sea salt. Then you roast it on low heat setting
frying pan. roast both side of seaweed until its crisp, yet not brown(burn).
for some reason, homemade always taste better… & its cheaper as well!
I'm trying eat healthy lately, and in love with raw veggie sushi.
Spread some avocado on sushi seaweed and place some shredded veggies such as carrot, cucumber, celery, zucchini, etc…) and roll it. enjoy it with some tamari soy sauce…

Just tried giving some plain roasted seaweed to my little vacuum cleaner here, guess she didn't like it, she disliked the smell, then tasted it, it's a big fail here lol.

I thought it was just my crazy dogs that loved seaweed! I hated it at 1 st but now I reach for that instead of potato chips. Really like the wasabi infused ones.
