| 13 week puppy - how much is enough? I have a new 13 week, 3 lb puppy and I'm not sure if he's eating enough. He eats about 3-4 tablespoons of kibble a day (I leave it out all day) and about 3 teaspoons of wet food a day. We've only had him for 4 days - he pooped multiple times the first 3 days, but now today only once. What do you think - ideas, tricks, suggestions if does need to eat more? Thanks! |

| Are you feeding him the same food as the breeder? He may need some time to adjust to his new home. Watch for signs of hypoglycemia.

| Yes, same food as the breeder and even made hamburger/rice/peas and carrots like she did to mix in with kibble. She said he was not a great eater, so just concerned about how much to expect. And I will watch for hypoglycemia - wobbly walking and "asleep on his feet", right? I started to weigh him today to keep track....... |

| A 3# puppy's tummy is about the size of 1/2 a pecan shell.....I advocate free feeding puppies, especially smaller sized ones. Hopefully, you are still feeding what the breeder was, at least until the baby has successfully transitioned through all the newness. I keep kibble down all the time, and if I fed canned food I would offer that every 4 hours. Monitor baby's weight...not wanting weight loss, and after baby has adjusted to your home/family, pup should be gaining weight slowly. |
