You may think you are getting the same as the other vets in town, but I will bet if you look at it all dollar for dollar, you are simply not getting the same services and/or care people are at the other vet.

Oops I thought there was like animal dentists, guess I learned something new today. I cannot remember the anesthesia. I asked them before, because I'm paranoid about things and asked them what all they use

UPDATE: Just got the call, and 6 teeth were removed, including his upper left canine. A lot less than what I had thought would need to be removed.

Have you ever seen the show Incredible Dr. Poll? That's a lot like my vet office. I think my vet and the vet techs do a great job. Not only did I stop going to the vet in my town because of the high cost, but also because the last time I had my JRT there he had an eye infection which was causing him pain. The vet started poking at his eye, and my dig growled and bit her. Then she yelled for a muzzle which made my dog even more anxious. She charged me $50 for the office visit and $30 for the vet tech to put muzzle on him.

hahaha if she charges people for muzzles to be put on, she needs a bite here and there .. that is just crazy

There are dentists for animals! I just paid a lot of money for three of mine to have dentals by a board certified dentist. They are high risk and I felt they should go to her. The fees were way over what has been mentioned.

I was quoted $850 from the veterinary dentist for Jackson's dental. He went there for a different procedure that our regular vet wouldn't do (vital pulpotomy) so I figured it was worth asking when it came time to get him another cleaning. It was just too steep for me, for something I felt confident his regular vet could do. He's also a healthy dog though.

I know Dr. Pol scares me actually. I wouldn't go near a vet that used some of his practices, FWIW.

Just picked up Juke. He has gingival recession, and the vet highly recommended brushing his teeth at least once a week, or else he could lose the other teeth in the next few years...however Juke doesn't like being touched so it's almost impossible. I have to take him back in 6 months for a checkup, and then he'll get a yearly cleaning. Any other recommendations for cleaning his teeth?

The total was $364, and they removed a benign growth from his mouth .

The one I go to charges from 680 - 880 BUT if anything extra is done it is more and I paid much more for my three. My George's total was crazy...I think around $2,400 but he was a high risk case. He had not had a dental in 1.5 years and in that short time his teeth looked dreadful. He had to have a couple of extractions, but also some other work was done. What I will say is that I got what I paid for!! His teeth look better than they ever have this far out...his dental was in September and by now, in the past, he would be a mess already.

I started George out with the CET hygeine rinse to get him used to me being in his mouth. I gave him a treat right after. I still use it because he stands there waiting now. Anyway, the dentist told me a minimum of 3 times/week for brushing. I brush them every afternoon and he is great for it. I first started like I said, with that rinse. Then, I got him used to the taste of the toothpaste (I use the poultry one) ... I started brushing just the front teeth and then after a few days, the back ones. The main thing is that I gave him a treat immediately after. He now associates it with treats. He stands after meals now waiting for the rinse in the AM and the brushing in the PM.

He sedates a ton of animals with injectables and without labs.
They do surgery without scrubbing in.
No masks. No caps!!!
I believe one leg injury was treated by splinting with pieces from a wooden box. Lighter fluid was applied to an injury because it as some such property.

He was slapped on the wrist or negligence. That hasn't stopped him or NatGeo.

I was considering buying that CET rinse... it is so much cheaper than HealthyMouth, but I know some don't like the xyotil in it. You've never had any problems?

[SIZE="3"]UMMM you don't want to know who he is, trust me !!! LOL. He has a show on TV and I just question alot of what he does. He has been turned in several times for his medical techniques.

Omg I didn't know that! I've only seen the show a few times. Definitely not watching it anymore.

It's ok.... sometimes I still watch it, out of pure curiosity, sometimes some of the things he does just make me ... he's very old school.

I don't agree with the Dog Whisperer either but I often tune in just to kind of "study" and see what I would do differently lol.

Sounds like a real winner. I did google him and saw the complaint about him...a horror story about a pregnant GSD who had 10 dead puppies in her.
