Which is better Solid Gold ,Royal Canin or Natural Balance?

My Yorkie and Maltese lived very long lives to 19.5 and 18.5 years respectively. I attribute this to great nutrition and Solid Gold dog food and treats. I'm lucky to have met and chatted with founder Cissy several times and believe in her dedication to quality food.

My 2 new puppies are transistionong from Royal Canin to Solid Gokd now. I look forward to many healthy years.

Just checked out the ingredients of Solid Gold. Looks like great stuff, grain free, no corn, no meat meal by product!

In 2007, Natural Balance recalled 7.3 million (7,362,302) units according to the FDA report. These units are in the form of bags, cans, pouches, etc.

In 2010, Natural Balance recalled 5,600 bags for Salmonella. There were 2,576 recalled 28 lb bags and 3,024 recalled 5 lb bags.

In 2012, Natural Balance recalled approximately 87,000 bags of food for Salmonella.

Since 2005, Natural Balance has had approximately 7.45 Million recalled units.

Natural Balance Complaints
There are a large number of complaints about Natural Balance products on the web. One site to find them is Consumer Affairs.

Royal Canin had a recall once on Rx food sold thru vets, back in 2007.......

This thread is from 2006. So if you're reading some of the older posts, opinions have obviously changed and those NB foods hadn't been recalled as of yet.

I was responding for the benefit of LadyGemma, and also Dizzytoo.... who just posted yesterday! Did not want people to be making their decision on dog food by just ONE or TWO responses!

I am surprised, Royal Canin has been raved about . My son uses that for my Grandpuppy and also mixes in Chicken Soup (which is a great food) . No problems for her . I have never heard of those other foods. Getting my puppy in 2 weeks lol I am getting excited. The breeder had him on Science Diet and I asked her to switch to RC. I am happy with that decision. If he doesn't do well on it, then you can best believe I will switch him. I am following what son does. He has had no problems with RC. He also feeds her a scoop of Wellness wet food in the morning/afternoon. Thanks for all the input.

Someone resurrected a 10 year old thread.

I guess, my only request is specify which RC formula you use. You use a better formula than the yorkie specific one.... just my opinion based on what we hashed out a year or so ago. LOL

There's so many foods on the market to choose from! EEK!
