Senior Yorkie Talker | cold weather My yorkie want to stay in front of the heater and cries if I pick her up like if I'm hurting her. Ihave her in a hooded sweater and she in doors. The heat is on 75 degrees in my house and during the day on 74 degrees. Princess Chloe lays in front of a sunny window during the day. I don't know if I should take her to the vet or what, I need some advise... Thanks in advance. Mommy very worried. |

| Is she still acting like this? Make sure her toe nails aren't getting caught in the sweater. Does she cry when she doesn't have the sweater on? I'm not sure what's going on with her. Is she a brand new puppy? Did someone drop her or accidentally step on her?

Senior Yorkie Talker | Thank you for your replies. Princess Chloe is 3 1/2 yrs and she's never done this before we're having a very unusual cold weather here and I noticed that her head and nose are colder that normal. I've place her bed close to the heater vents and she is now spending time in her bed there. She's a toy yorkie 3 1/2 pounds. She has a very small head and I have to adjust her sweater hods to fit her head. I picked her up this morning and to put on her long john pj's and she yelped when I touched her under her left front leg. No one has dropped her, since it's only my husband and myself and we are very careful with her. I started to play throwing her ball so she could do some exercise for a while and for her to run around and she was running normally with no problem. But now she's back in her bed in front of the vent. I covered her head with a hod and she's just sitting in her bed.????? Last edited by Baby Princess; 12-09-2013 at 09:10 AM. |

| I hope she is ok now. If she seems to be in pain again I would take her to the vet to have her checked. It seems like she is better if she is running and not having any problems.

| Sounds like a vet check is necessary and a symptom of hypothyroidism is problems tolerating cold.

| I definitely agree that she needs a vet check. Perhaps her insides are hurting her, not her feet. I have a little one(4lbs) and he is way more temperature sensitive than my bigger boy(8-8.5 lbs). He get's cold when it's under 70 degrees...and he's constantly in clothes. He wears pj's a lot and I layer over those with sweaters and sweatshirts. He also spends a lot of time on my lap where it's warm and he never used to be a lap dog |
