Hi here. New Yorkie mom here. At what age is it recommended to neuter a Yorkie? I have a standard poodle, and they recommend neutering them after 9 months due to growth issues. But Yorkies have attained their full height a lot earlier, so can I get him neutered earlier?

Most vets here recommend at age 6 months.

chester got fixed at 6 months and got chipped at the same time

Max was neutered at exactly 6 months. Teddy was closer to 8 months. My preference is to wait longer, but there is a lot of added responsibility keeping an intact male from trouble.

I am waiting until my boys is about 1 year old before neuter, so his growth plates close. My Aussie was done at 3 months, and my teddy was done at six months. I didn't know how hormones effect the growth plates. My Aussie at 12 years old has no health problems from early neuter.
