| What is going on? Tummy issues.... I don't even know where to start with this...my family ie my hubby and kona have recently moved to Hawaii. Kona has been healthy and pretty much stress free until now. With the airplanes and the new home he hadn't quite gotten the rythym down. I recently got him a new dry food (it rhymes with shi-rina) maybe started 2 1/2 weeks ago and he has started becoming gassy and he NeVeR has before. Then 2 days ago, he vomited...everywhere. So I thought, maybe he got into something...then at 3am this morning, the mr. and I wake up to Kona diarrhea-ing all over the bed! Needless to say it's been a rough morning. I hate seeing my baby like this. So as I sit here typing, I fix my baby some chicken and rice. If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions, I could use it! Thanks! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi and WELCOME to YT. If this is a puppy, I'd get to the vet ASAP as puppies can go down FAST with vomiting and diarrhea. Even with an adult, these symptoms are scary and you may even want to go to the vet if Kona is an adult. If you want to wait 1 day to try the chicken and rice, you might be okay...at least I hope Kona will be okay waiting a day. Since he is gassy on this food, I would not give it again bc there is an ingredient that is irritating his system. It's hard to say if the vomiting and diarrhea is from the food bc it's happening now, rather than earlier when you began feeding it. I just def would not feed this food or a similar food (ingreds) to it. Has he been outside alone where he could've gotten into something toxic? Is he drinking water? Will he eat something, like a cracker or little piece of bread?

| Hi Wylie's mom, Thanks for responding. He will be 2 in December, he has not been out alone. We take him always. So he drinks water normally, and I just fed him the rice and chicken and he LOVED it. He couldn't eat it fast enough. I figured he'd be hungry with all the diarrhea...So I think we'll ride it out today. I have someone checking in on him while we're at work today. So fingers crossed he passes whatever has been ailing him. If he's still sick this afternoon I will take him to vet immediately. Thanks again! |

| When was his food switched? What was the quarantine process/inspection process? Was he away from you at all? How many days ago did he fly? I would go with the chicken and rice and then slowly transition to his old food if he did well on it. As Wylie's Mom said, appetite is a good sign. Only feed small amounts if he is eating fast though. That could retrigger a problem. A couple times of vomit or diarrhea generally is no big thing, but if he threw up everywhere and has had diarrhea, it really is best to go to the vet. In the case of a couple issues no food by mouth is the recommendation.
