| What did you feed your puppy? I"m not getting my puppy for another few weeks, and the guy is going to send the puppy home with some Purina Puppy Chow, which he feeds them. However, I feed my adult dogs holistic grain free food, so of course I'll slowly wean the puppy off the Purina, and feed him a holistic puppy food..I was at petco yesterday, just getting ideas, and I have no idea what's the best brand to feed a puppy? Any suggestions would be nice

Well you should probably leave the puppy on the same food the breeder is feeding for a month or 2 till he gets settled in then you can very slowly transistion to the new food.. Can you feed the same brand you are feeding your dogs just in a puppy formula? | |

| I fed Maggie and Lilly Nature's Variety Prairie (chicken & brown rice) when they were puppies. I fed all my dogs the same food. Now we feed Amicus and we give Bella the same food as the rest of the dogs. It is the adult formula, but the owner of Horizon (Horizon makes Amicus) said it is just fine for the puppy and that the puppy formula and the adult formula are the same except the puppy formula has a little more protein and fat. They are doing very well on the Amicus. BTW, all of my puppies started eating what the other dogs were eating from the time we brought them home. They always seemed to want what the other dogs were eating and had no interest in the puppy food that they came to us with, so they made an instant transition to the new food.

Though some owners said they found that this brand could be too rich. Then if it is, Acana is a good alternative, they come from the same company
