| Raw for Lunch Hi All Just thought I would start a conversation about lunch ... Lily is 10lbs and gets 3 meals/day. At the moment it isn't practical or economical for me to go entirely raw and I do rely on a good quality kibble for her balanced intake of minerals and nutritents. I have been supplementing that by giving her boiled chicken for lunch, just plain chicken about 2-4 TBS. She loves it. I recently purchased some Stella & Chewy's "Duck, Duck, Goose" patties so I could begin to give her raw (and I could start with raw baby steps too!) I have started feeding her those for lunch, 1/2 patty. For breakfast and dinner she gets 3-4 TBS kibble (1/4 cup). My question is, do any of your dogs have a similar combo of kibble and raw? How are they doing? Does their digestion seem good? I have read about the different digestion rates kibble vs raw vs cooked etc. my concern is minimizing any tummy aches because of the difference in digestion time. Also ... Anyone add pumpkin to their baby's diet? Raw or kibble etc. Thanks YT friends!

| I don't buy into not mixing raw and kibble. I give Teddy a Stella & Chewy's patty or a Primal nugget mixed with some kibble every morning for breakfast and we have never had any issues whatsoever. No tummy or bathroom problems. When I used to feed Toki pre-made raw, she also never had any issues with getting the two mixed at meals. I did use to add pumpkin and/or green beans to her raw-only meals to help bulk up the volume of food though. We love S&C here but it is also too expensive for us to feed exclusively! It's a good supplement for Teddy though since we seem to have trouble keeping weight on him! Active little fellow! |

| I feed Dooney stella and chewy freeze dried raw as a topper on his kibble...he's done well on it, good poops, great hair and no eye goober's. He is also picky...I also occassially give raw chicken as a treat. He loves having different food options....I will be trying the duck duck goose next.

| Thank you both for the input! Lily really likes the Duck Duck Goose. I will try the rabbit next. It's a bit spendy (S&C in general) but the frozen is cheaper than freeze dried and I like shopping at wag.com, I think they have great prices and most of the time the food is delivered via next day air. They have all kinds of great products and I ran into a return situation, their customer service was the best. If you haven't tried them, give them a whirl. They don't have the frozen S&C but I think their prices on raw products (freeze dried, etc.) in general, and other things, has been cheaper than my local pet food stores. I've been slowly increasing her amount of the DDG patty so that it can be her entire lunch. I hope at some point I can feed her the frozen raw entirely ... but it's so nice to know you have a decent kibble to fall back on for traveling, not to mention overall balanced nutrition. Lily eats Halo kibble, it's a decent kibble but I'd like to see her on more raw than kibble by Christmas. Slowly we go ... YT parents are the best, thanks for your encouragement!
