| Tartar Removal and Prevention Help! My Bella is 2-1/2 years old and has considerable tartar on her teeth. I brush her teeth daily and give her Petrodex chews daily. I cannot have her teeth cleaned as she has a partially collapsed trachea and her vet does not want to put her under. I have searched and based on information gained on this site have ordered CET toothpaste and Oravet. Is there anything else I could be doing to prevent tartar and possible even remove tartar that is on her teeth now? I cannot give her chews as she has a tremendous appetite and tries to inhale them whole(I already had to dig one lodged in her mouth out). I have to feed her wet food since dry kibble aggrevates her throat when she tries to swallow them whole. Any suggestions? As a sidenote, I almost lost her due to suffocation last year when her trachea became inflamed. Since then, working with our vet, we have her on a regimen of prednizone and antihistime and she is doing great. We just try not to let her get too excited and this seems to aggrevate her condition. |

| They have anesthesia free cleaning, we tried it & loved it! It was great for an in-between vet anesthesia cleaning for my guys, but will be perfect for your's bc of the CT. We used houndstooth, they were very gentle & professional. Houndstooth Dental, anesthesia free Dog Teeth Cleaning, Dog & Cat Teeth Cleaning

| Our Skittles (poodle) can not have his teeth cleaned due to heart issues. This is what I have been doing for about 6months and it has helped alot. Teeth are brushed everymorning,I use the little squishy brush that goes on the end of your finger. In the evening I put tooth gel (Orzan) on a qtip and rub it on his molers. Just a little on each side. You can actually do this after brushing in the morning. This stiff kills the bacteria that causes bad breath and tartar. Over the past 6months the tartar on his teeth has lessened tremendously. They arent sparkley white but his breath wont knock you over and his teeth do look alot better. |
