YT 2000 Club Member | Our Max was pretty overweight. Since we have cut his kibble amount and added green beans, he has lost a pound in the last few months. He is more active. He doesn't like to go for walks, but just getting him outside where he just follows us around is exercise. He also plays with our other 2 yorkies which burns calories. Playing fetch with toys, rough housing or wrestling burn calories. Doing fun activities with your dog will get him moving. It takes time but they feel so much better when the extra weight comes off! Good Luck. Also a lower calorie food might help. and not table food or treats!!!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I switched all of mine off kibble and on to a canned food called Weruva. They love it and they all lost weight. I am now adding kibble to their Weruva and will monitor their weight to make sure they stay at a healthy weight. Also, I am walking them more.

YT 2000 Club Member | Thank you! Max is so much happier....he plays more and has even joined in chasing his sisters when they are "race tracking" through the house!

| Bad knees are bad knees whether they over weight or not. The weight does make it a little worse but even when he loses weight he is still going to have bad knees. Is he on any kind of pain meds for his knees?

| He's on Canidryl ,20 milligrams a day (one tablet is 20 mg. he gets a half tablet in the morning and half at night). I finished the tablets and he got worse I'm starting again now. He will go into surgery when he is in the right weight,if I make him go into surgery overweight the surgery 'wont work'',most likely the knees will be popping out of place again then.

| But thanks for the info,he will be going on Royal Canin Obesity kibble in this week, I'll give him green beans to fill him up ! How much should he get of the beans a day? Hes supposed to get about 80 grams a day of the obesity food, I once had him on it when he was younger and he got into the right weight soon but then he didn't have PL and I could excercise him an hour a day with the obesity food. I'm thinking of taking just 2 walks a day to begin with, short walks around the neighborhood, just let him walk slowly Propably best to begin with that, along with pain meds and obesity food! I know Royal aint the best food but it works!

| You may want to be careful with the canned string beans. Frozen would be better, but fresh organic are the best! Ian loves them raw!

YT 1000 Club Member | I have to disagree. Putting excess weight on bad knees is more stressful, which is why losing weight can help. It won't absolve the problem but it will be beneficial. |

| Of course but she was saying he had bad knees because of the weight and that's not true if its LP. I did say it makes it a bit worse but if they have LP they have it weather there overweight or not.
